Mr. Rouse had arranged a nice display of artichokes by the front door. Actually, you had to dodge it and I did, but not until I snagged two smallish medium blooms. Minutes later, as they boiled in cayenne and garlic water I made a dip of salt, butter, sour cream and pressed garlic and had a sip of cabernet.
Damn!
The next course was the latest version of weekly beans, rice and sausage I’ve been working on for the past year with the regional spices and Cajun sausage varieties. I have ventured away from the ‘red beans only’ to a mix of kidney red, navy and pinto beans with red or green lentils. The rice is usually Basmati or short grain brown. Okay, well, that’s not Cajun and that’s fine because I order the local fare when I eat out. No need to eat it every day.
Bon appatit,

btw, this post was created without Windows Vista and I’m glad to say so.

Some have asked if I have checklists for other trades and processes for construction and the answer is “yes”. The lists take a while to put together (on my own time) and they are primarily a tool. I have made checklists for multi and single family construction, new and remodel, and choose to keep these for my own use. Making a checklist and reading them from time to time helps one pay attention.
Then there are the issues of subcontractors and others in management who subscribe to the theory “we don’t do it that way”. You are on your own.
Do your best.

Well, let’s see.
The transmission went out on the 205,000 mile GMC Jimmy so it’s in the shop. Probably twelve Benjamins. Nice. Also, I ran 12 volts DC unfiltered through the J45 connection on the Windows Vista machine. I had the USB connected to a Canon copier in the J45 port instead of the USB (before my first coffee) and started making copies of something. That’s my excuse. Not even a whimper, dead mother board, and good riddance. HDD now external and RAM’s good and living well in the Sony Vaio so the search has begun for a MacBook.
I’ll probably be in the bayou another 6 months………..

From CNN
Collins’ daughter, Cynthia, also weathered the storm. After her roof collapsed, she waited hours for help to arrive. When it didn’t, she said, she waded seven blocks through thigh-high water to get to her mother’s house.
“I decided just to go, because no one was coming to get me,” she said. “We have been calling emergency people since 5 o’clock this morning.”
Mandatory evacuations are for everyone else.
I’m special.

Avoiding Gustav plopped me in my Norman duplex for considerably more time than the normal 60 hour weekend break. Imagine living in a bayou town where the population is less than the number of enrolled students at OU. The consequences are all quality of life trade-offs with the first being not sleeping in my own home. To continue to make comparisons would simply be whining. So…
The task is: be done.
